Fashion show raises funds for two good causes

LADIES from the Inner Wheel Club of Rye and Winchelsea raised £900 for two local charities when they held a recent Fashion Show.

The group handed out cheques of £450 each to St. Michael’s Hospice and The Marie Curie Cancer Care charities when held their Christmas meeting at The Top O’ The Hill Public House, Playden, on December 5.

President Liz Jackson also had the pleasure of inducting a new member – Lynda Carter, Manageress of Country Casuals, whose mother and grandmother are members of the Inner Wheel Club of the Isle of Sheppey.

Liz Jackson reported that they are only a small club with 12 members but over the last six months they have raised funds for Farm Africa; a charity which provides training and support to rural communities to help lift them out of poverty, Children of Sumatra; a charity which provides funds and operations for children born with cleft palates and hair lips and, of course, St. Michael’s Hospice and The Marie Curie Cancer Care.

In the New Year the Club is taking part in Come Dine with Us and ARRCC to help raise much needed funds for their Activities Respite Rehabilitation Care Centre and also organising a coffee morning for Sue Ryder – Inner Wheel’s Association President’s charity.
