Every council-funded youth club in the Horsham district could face closure

IN THIS WEEK’S County Times we look at the potential threat to all council-funded youth clubs in the Horsham district as West Sussex County Council plans to cut £2m from the youth services budget.

Local community groups are already being encouraged to find ‘new and imaginative ways’ to take over youth services as part of the governnment’s wider Big Society agenda.

But some youth groups said volunteers alone will not be able to keep sessions running, and one councillor described youth cuts as ‘an easy hit’ for the council.

We spoke to youth clubs in Horsham, Ashington and Pulborough about their uncertain future.
