This year, enterprising pupils raised over £1,700 at the event on Thursday April 21 by setting up a marketplace of stalls and games.

With each class responsible for developing and running a stall, some healthy competition between year groups ensured the afternoon was the most successful to date.

Pupils from Year 6 took the most amount of money at their café followed closely by the children in early years with their lucky cups.

Held on the same day as the Queen’s 90th birthday, Year 6 pupils created a café fit for royalty, serving afternoon teas to mark the occasion.

The children also helped to promote the event with a poster competition sponsored by Fowlers Estate Agents in Billingshurst High Street.

Students were invited to design a poster and a record 120 pupils took part.

Acting as judge for the fifth consecutive year, Keith Hutchinson from Fowlers Estate Agents had the difficult task of choosing the winning entries from each Key Stage.

The overall winners were William Silvester from Reception and Lily Smith from Key Stage 1.

Their winning designs were proudly displayed in the estate agent’s window on the High Street, with hundreds of other entries decorating the gates of the school.

Helen Williamson, headteacher at Billingshurst Primary School comments: “Thanks to the resourcefulness of our pupils the Spring Fair is one of our fundraising highlights.
