East Sussex Branch of the Coastguard Association anniversary

EAST Sussex Branch of the Coastguard Association celebrated its 30th anniversary at Bexhill Sailing Club on Saturday.

Past and present coastguards from Bexhill, Eastbourne, Hastings and Rye Bay companies celebrated with a buffet, lots of old photographs and a demonstration by the "old timers" of how the breaches buoy used to be used.

A presentation of hand-bearing compasses was made to the companies by Stuart Arundel, national chairman of the Coastguard Association. A commemorative plaque was presented to Eric Hollingsworth, president of the East Sussex branch.
