Driver hurt in bus shelter crash

A DRIVER crashed into a bus shelter in Newick in the early hours of today (Friday).

The 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries and is currently being treated for multiple broken bones at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The accident happened at around 12.40am on the A272 at Station Road.

A blue Ford Focus, which was travelling east, left the road and collided with the shelter.

Police said the driver was from the local area and have confirmed no other vehicles were involved.

An investigation is being carried out and police have appealed for witnesses to contact PC Doug Pack at Polegate Road Policing Unit on 0845 6070999.
