Two men assaulted in the centre of Eastbourne

Two people were left injured following an assault in Eastbourne this week.

According to police, officers received a report of an assault at the junction of Langney Road and Terminus Road at around 2.30am on Tuesday (December 20). Officers attended and arrested a 28-year-old man, from Hornton Heath in Hampshire, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released on unconditional bail pending further enquiries.

A search was carried out for a second suspect who is still outstanding. He is described by police as white, has short dark hair and was wearing a dark jacket.

Police say a 37-year-old man from Eastbourne was taken to hospital to be treated for a head injury. A 28-year-old man was treated for minor injuries.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone who saw what happened or has any information can report online or call 101, quoting serial 081 of 20/12.
