‘High numbers of insecure cars' have been found by police officers in Adur and Worthing.

Adur and Worthing Police said officers from the neighbourhood policing team have been working on car security ‘over the past couple of nights’ – making sure cars are safely locked up.

A spokesperson said: “Previous audits have found quite high numbers of insecure cars, sadly it only took one minute to find our first insecure car, owner was notified and the car secured.

"In around sixty minutes several hundred cars were checked, only seven were found to be insecure, some with valuables, that would be a good night for someone intent on stealing from cars. Please don’t make it easy for car criminals and check your car is locked properly.”
