Crews tackle vehicle fire in Hassocks

Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in Hassocks on Monday night (June 15).

The vehicle on fire was at the Stonepound Crossroads in the village.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called to the Stonepound Crossroads in Hassocks at 8.52pm to reports of a vehicle on fire.

“One crew from Burgess Hill was mobilised and upon arrival, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using one hose reel. They left the scene at 10.08pm.”

An eyewitness said the incident at the crossroads went on for some time – with police also at the scene.

Sussex Police has been approached for a comment.
