Crews called to fire in Langney

Firefighters have been called to a blaze in the Langney area of Eastbourne this morning (July 16).

A member of the public reportedly sounded the alarm due to smoke billowing across the Langney Shopping Centre car park at around 9.30am.

Crews rushed to the scene at a building site in Fern Close, where ‘three small fires’ were discovered.

A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said, “We were called to attend a fire in the open on Fern Close, Eastbourne.

“Firefighters from Eastbourne attended and extinguished three small fires on a building site using one hose reel jet.

“Crews are still on scene to ensure that the scene is safe.”
