TWO BEXHILL college students, who crawled on their hands and knees from Bexhill to Hastings, raised a grand total of 240 for Comic Relief.

Seventeen year olds Ben Carson and Oliver (Oli) Slaughter made the physically gruelling five mile journey from Galley Hill to to the Rock 'a' nore fishing huts in eight and a half hours.

It was Ben's idea to do the crawl, persuading Oli to join him. The dedicated students took a few short breaks along the way and, on completing the five mile crawl, Ben said he felt OK but was "a bit achy"; Oli was slightly the worse for wear, as despite wearing knee pads, unfortunately both his knees were sore and bleeding.

Ben said they received a lot of support along the way, with many people stopping their cars to spur them on and to donate money.

He said: "A few people were saying we were a bit mad, but lots of people stopped their cars and threw money out of their windows."
