Crash victim was from Rye area

Police have named the driver of a Rover car that was found crashed into bushes, at Winchelsea, near Rye, in the early hours of Tuesday (23 September).

He was Michael Walsh, aged 72, and he was from the Rye area.

His family have now been located and have been informed of his death.

Enquiries are being carried out to establish what happened before the car was found in the hedgerow close to the village hall, and how the collision occurred.
