Crafty children reach for the stars at Bognor carol service

Homemade lanterns added a festive touch to an outdoor carol service in Bognor Regis.

Seven children and their parents created the lighting from willow and tissue paper for the service in Hotham Park.

They staged a parade through the park to its bandstand with the star-shaped lanterns they had made in a workshop held by Community Arts Bognor Regis earlier in the day.

One of those who got their hands sticky in the park lodge was Rebecca Lunn, nine.

She said: “It’s good because you get to bend the willow and make three pieces in a circle. You then make two triangles and stick them together.”

She went along with her mother, Joanne Lunn, 37, from Middleton, and her brother, aged five, and three-year-old sister.

Community Arts founder Su Cloud said: “This event is all about interacting with the community and getting them involved in local events.

“It also brings the generations together.

“We’ve had people aged between three and 75 here.”
