Council welcomes new street lights for Ore path

A DARK and dangerous cut-through has been given two new street lights in a bid to boost community safety.

The new lampposts have been installed in Waterside Path in Ore after concerns from local residents about using it after nightfall. In a council survey earlier this year, 98 per cent of people living nearby said lighting on the path had to be improved as an urgent priority. Two new lights have now been installed and Cllr Jeremy Birch, leader of Hastings Borough Council, welcomed the news with the darker nights starting to draw in.

He said: “I am really pleased that the council has been able to improve this path for the community, which although may not seem like a big development, will certainly prove to be beneficial and appreciated by the local residents in the area, as represented in the feedback we received.

“As the evenings get darker, it will give those residents who access the path peace of mind.”
