Council roll out those freefamily fun days of summer

Family fun continues through the summer at two local pocket parks offering free play and sports for all ages with Hastings Borough Council's Play Hastings team.

Picnic and Play will be held at Hughenden Pocket Park and Linton Gardens. Funded by Hastings and Rother Clinical Commissioning Group, all children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Hastings Borough Council (HBC) lead member for play Cllr Dawn Poole the council’s lead member for play says the events follow on from the successful Play Days in the Park, adding: “We are really pleased to offer more family play in two of our smaller green spaces. There’s no need to book, just come along with a picnic and join in the fun!”

Cllr Sue Beaney of the Better Braybrooke Residents’ Association says there will be many free activities for families to enjoy including treasure hunts, seed planting, clay, crafts, football and badminton and more. “I welcome this opportunity to invite more people to discover the delights of Linton Gardens – it’s a hidden gem,” she said. “The park is tucked away and deserves to be appreciated for what it is - a quiet retreat for all ages close to the town centre.

“We look forward to seeing lots of families here during August, there’s so much to do.”

Activities are being delivered by HBC’s Play Hastings and StreetGames team at Hughenden Road Pocket Park on August 8,15,22, 12.30-3pm, and at Linton Gardens on August 10, 17, 24, 11-1.30pm.
