Coffee morning raises money for Cancer Research

SUNSHINE saw devotes of the Cancer Research (Bexhill and Little Common branch) coffee morning, queuing well in advance of the doors opening at Little Common Community Centre on Thursday.

Many people made a bee-line for the popular home-made cake and preserve stall whilst others clamoured for pearls, bracelets, rings and broaches on the well-stocked jewellery stall; although Cancer Research volunteer Beryl Burbridge jokingly pointed out that anyone expecting to find a real gem may be disappointed as apparently: "All that glitters is not gold on the jewellery stall!"

Along with a raffle, other stalls sold a variety of items including books, games, toys, gifts, stationary, bric a brac, etc.

Teas, coffees and biscuits were served and a little over 298 was raised for Cancer Research which secretary Elizabeth King said was a "good result".

Elizabeth also wishes to remind people that the next coffee morning on 22nd November will be the bumper Christmas event.
