Church flower festival sets new record

THE annual Flower Festival at St George’s Church. Brede, was a huge success despite Saturday’s poor weather.

The event had a record 1,300 visitors, including people from Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Besides many visitors who lived locally, others came from Coventry, Oxfordshire, London, Essex and Hertfordshire.

The theme of the Festival this year was The Bible in Colour and there were more than 30 displays on show.

Steve Edwards, from the Church, said: “Comments made included: “Stunning”, “Spectacular - beautiful flowers superbly arranged”, “Paradise on earth” and “Every year one runs out of praise for the displays”.

“It was a great success.”
