Christmas fair for two children’s charities

His painting Love is a Bridge, a tribute to the men who lost their lives in the Shoreham Airshow crash, will be on show for the event at Oak Grove College, in The Boulevard, Worthing.

Organiser Hannah Mackrell said the fair will support ‘two very special local children’s charities’, The Luke Cory Trust and Chanctonbury Community Playscheme.

This is the fifth year she has organised the fair, which will run from midday to 4pm on Saturday.

“The Christmas fair has something for everyone, said Hannah, who is the organiser for Chanctonbury Community Playscheme.

“You can enjoy all this fun while supporting both these amazing charities, which provide respite and valuable memories to so many families.”

Chanctonbury Community Playscheme provides respite during the school summer holidays for children with special needs aged five to 19.

Hannah said: “We are lucky enough to now help more than 160 families each year. I have been part of CCPS for ten years and its such a wonderful charity.

“I am lucky to be part of it and see how precious this playscheme is to the young people who attend and all their families. The laughter had is the best part of our summers.”

The Luke Cory Trust, which gives families with children facing life-threatening illnesses a chance of making valuable memories at its holiday home in Selsey, is also close to her heart.

“Luke was a magical family friend who you could not help but love and had the most amazing infectious smile,” explained Hannah.

“Both these charities are wonderful, special local charities for our community to support wholeheartedly. These events are very important to these charities as they both rely strong on fundraising to help run each year.

“I would love for as many people as possible to attend this event and have even more families knowing about these charities.”

There will be a winter wonderland grotto with Santa and his elves, many Christmas gift stalls, Polka Photography taking Christmas snaps, PlayMosaic creating fun for the children, Dave Hunt Leisure, face paints, glitter tattoos and game stalls.

A café with hot lunches will be run by Oak Grove Collge to raise funds for the school.
