Choral society to remember Shirley Wild

A MEMORIAL to remember Shirley Wild, long time secretary and member of Battle Choral Society, will take place in Fairlight next week.

The service, which will take place at St Andrew’s Church on February 19 from 2.30pm, will honour Shirley’s wide interests and dedicated work both in her teaching career, and her work for the church, choir and her many friends.

Ex-colleagues and others will pay tribute to the qualities Shirley brought to the many spheres of her life.

The choir will sing Mozart’s Ave Verum, one of Shirley’s favourite pieces, and the service will end with the joyful Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah.

The choir’s next concert will be on Saturday May 18 at Christ Church, St Leonards at 7.30 pm.

The orchestra, soloists, and choir will perform JS Bach’s B Minor Mass and would welcome others from local choirs, especially sopranos, who would like to join them to sing this incredible music.

One soloist will be society president Louise Winter, an internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano, who last sang with the choir for the Verdi Requiem.

The evening’s performance will be dedicated to the loving memory of Shirley Wild.
