Children advised on beach safety

CHILDREN were given advice on staying safe at the beach when they paid a visit to Rother District Council's coastal control team in Bexhill.

Twenty youngsters from Little Common Playgroup, plus parents and staff, were given a fun and informative talk on how to look after themselves when visiting the seaside.

The children got to look at the safety equipment used by the team and had the opportunity to sit in the patrol boat.

They were introduced to the various beach safety flags and the meanings were explained.

A simple quiz then gave the children the opportunity to test their understanding.

The visit was organised by the coastal control team and supported by Active Rother '“ a joint project set up by the Council and NHS Hastings and Rother to encourage people to have healthy lifestyles.

Active Rother has been working to promote beach safety in the district.
