Charity car wash at Bexhill College

Rotten weather did not deter Bexhill College students from holding a charity carwash as part of their Make A Difference Day.

The rain barely let up but still failed to dampen their spirits as they washed cars to raise funds for Help For Heroes, achieving a total of 37.05.

Nine students, who are studying for their Society, health and Development diploma, took part - Kim Perez, Kim Davies, James McMahon, Kelly Humphrey, April Hills, Emily Rowland, Samantha Bryan, Ella Macpherson, and Emily Oberheim.

They were joined by teacher Penny Smith and teaching assistant Andrea Shead.

James commented: "Morale was a bit low at first because of the weather but then people started mucking in and just got on with it. It was good - it was enjoyable. We did it for Help For Heroes because there are soldiers out in Afghanistan at the moment not getting enough support, and Help for Heroes is the charity to help them. We thought we would give something back."

Kim Davies added: "It was for a good cause so we didn't really mind, but the rain did affect it."

The car wash was held because as part of their assessments the students have to arrange a team event, and they did this in conjunction with the volunteering charity CSV campaign.

Penny Smith said: "They were all really upbeat, very excited, and really wanted to do it. It was a really good team effort."
