Cash awaits nippers with snippers

Since last month youngsters, their parents, staff and friends at schools throughout our circulation area have been busily snipping the mastheads from copies of the Bexhill-on-Sea Observer and its sister titles and saving them up for cash rewards.

For primary school children each masthead - the title bar at the top of the front page, including its dateline, e.g. Friday, July 1, 2011 - is worth 2p when redeemed, and for years 7 to 11 senior school students the rate is a penny per masthead.

A collection of 5,000 mastheads equates to £100 for primary schools, and that money can then go towards something the school is in need of, or be used to provide special treats for the children.

It might, for instance, make all the difference in a school being able to pay for an outing, or to expand its library, or to add money to a bigger project.

Details of how to claim cash back and an application form will be published shortly, but in the meantime the watchword is: “Keep busy with those scissors!”

Note: It is important that erach masthead saved carries the date of publication and they must be the real thing: no photo-copies are allowed.
