Carnival and jazz fest in weekend sizzler

CARNIVAL, a three-night Jazz fest and a rock party in the park.

Mix in a funfair and a circus and it all adds up to a sizzling weekend of outdoor entertainment in Bexhill.

A stage has been built on the De La Warr Pavilion lawn for the jazz and light triple header called Panoramic beginning this evening.

Top saxophonist Courtney Pine heads tonight's bill with the James Taylor Quartet and Alex Wilson R&B Latino.

The show starts at 7pm with Courtney Pine due on at 9.45.

Tomorrow's bill is headed by Nitin Sawhney and Sunday's by Tindersticks.

Tickets cost 16 per evening.

Local rock bands such as Boysterous and Storm take over the Polegrove this evening for a Party in the Park.

Tomorrow is Bexhill Carnival day (see p2) with a procession through the town - leaving Turkey Road at 1pm - and Polegrove arena events.

For still more excitement there's a Carnival funfair at the Polegrove and Cottle and Austen's Electric Circus at Glyne Gap until Sunday!
