Careline and other council services in East Pallant House move

A COST-cutting measure could see a number of district council programmes in the city moved to East Pallant House.

Council services such as Careline, in Florence Road, and Relate, in Theatre Lane, could be moved into the headquarters of Chichester District Council so the premises can either be used by partner organisations such as West Sussex County Council, or can be let to commercial organisations.

In a report presented at a cabinet meeting of Chichester District Council on February 5, the potential change was discussed as part of the council’s New Way of Working at East Pallant House project.

Cabinet members voted to approve the decision to undertake accommodation alterations for some of the council’s services, which also includes civil enforcement officers and the Citizens Advice Bureau.

This initial undertaking is with a view to a further future roll-out if the current alterations prove successful.

Cabinet member for leisure, wellbeing and community services Eileen Lintell said of the moving of the services: “A lot of what they do is quite confidential.

“I take it that will be taken into account.”
