Campaign for Worthing cycle path

ENTHUSIASTIC cyclists are being asked to saddle up and support the campaign for a safe cycle route along Worthing seafront.

Keen cyclist and leader of Worthing's Liberal Democrats, councillor Bob Smytherman, wants to hear from cyclists, groups, schools, cycle retailers, and anyone who is interested in organising a peaceful protest about the lack of a cycle path from Splash Point to George V Avenue.

Mr Smytherman, a former cycling instructor, has been working with cycling charity Sustrans to highlight the issue and hopes to bring cyclists together during National Bike Week from June 14 to 22.

He said: "We need to get going now to make sure a suitable event is planned that everyone can take part in June to show the council why Worthing needs this cycle route on the prom."

People interested in taking part can contact Mr Smytherman by telephone on 07867 562538 or 01903 507073, email: [email protected] or contact him through Facebook by clicking here.
