Call for help with Bognor Regis carnival

A monster needs friends for this year's Bognor Regis Carnival.

The Lagness Monster will be making its debut at the community event on July 3.

It will be joined by King Neptune and various sea creatures in the seafront parade.

But his appearance depends upon enough willing helpers to carry his 20ft long fabric body with a head of tissue paper.

Yet only five people turned up to a Bognor Regis Community Arts workshop on Saturday to help create the entry.

Community arts founder Su Cloud said: “We need people to display what we have made. We are trying to get the community spirit back in the town.

“The carnival is a celebration of what is good about Bognor.”

One of those at the workshop painting the monster was Cameron Murphy, five.

He said: “I like painting. It’s fun and messy and I’m going to be in the carnival.”
