People waiting for buses outside Seaford Library have had no protection from the elements since March when a bus careered into the shelter, shattering its glass and buckling its frame.

Seaford transport campaigner Bob Brown was furious that the shelter had still not been reinstated.

He said: 'I have been trying to get the council to put pressure on Adshel, the advertising company responsible for the upkeep of the shelter, for the last three months and all I have had in return is promises. Meanwhile, the stop is totally without a shelter or seating facilities.'

He added: 'The long-suffering customers, many of them elderly and/or handicapped, have to put up with either being fried or drenched in the present changeable weather.'

Seaford Town Council committee administrator Mike Wright said he had written to Adshel demanding the shelter be replaced as soon as possible.

He said: 'We have told them we have had an increasing number of complaints and waited long enough.'

No one at Adshel was available for comment.
