Friends’ chairman Jan Malpas was among those in the London Road precinct last Saturday.
She said: “We signed up some new members to get us going for 2016 until we were rained off. There was an awful lot of interest in what we are doing.
“It was good to see as well that a lot of young people wanted to know more. They are the ones who are really going to benefit from our ambitions as we move forward.
