Body Shop volunteers dedicate Amberley Museum day to Dame Anita's memory

VOLUNTEERS from The Body Shop dedicated a day's work for Amberley Museum to the memory of their company's founder, Dame Anita Roddick.

The 70 employees spent their day at the museum levelling and tidying the car park, with the substantial help of the tourist attraction's former West Sussex County Council steamroller, which compacted the potholes filled by the volunteers.

For many years The Body Shop has encouraged staff to take part in volunteering and the museum project was part of a series of activities to celebrate the life of Dame Anita, who died on September 10 last year.

Museum marketing manager Kate Russell said: "This initiative has been driven by The Body Shop and is a fantastic way to remember Dame Anita. She was a remarkable women who believed that business has the power to make the right kind of difference to the world.

"It's heartening to see her legacy lives on through the work of the team at The Body Shop."
