Big show for Felpham dancers

Dancers from Felpham Community College have taken to the stage for their biggest show to date.

The 16 girls from the college's Fused! dance group entertained hundreds of people at the Alexandra Theatre on Sunday (March 1).

They took part in the first The Sharing production by the county youth service.

They performed ten minutes of street dancing in two routines based around hip hop. Joining the 12 to 16-year-olds in the exciting and entertaining showcase were the Body Shock group from Littlehampton.

Fused! founders Megan Worboys and Jemma Meek (both 13) were among the performers. Megan said before the show: "It feels good to show off what we can do and the work we have been doing." Jemma said: "It's hard work but it's good and it's fun as well."

The dancers prepared for their routine by rehearsing for two hours once a week since just before Christmas.

The show was the first by Fused! in the Bognor area since it was formed about 18 months ago.

They took part in small-scale productions at Ardingly and Angmering.

As well as the show, the dancers are among the frontrunners in West Sussex to gain the Arts Award bronze level. This is based on the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme and is based around creative pastimes such as dance, photography, music and drawing.

Participants have to take part in a show, watch a professional show, take part in workshops and keep a diary. Members of Fused! are planning to visit Wicked in London's West End soon to complete their required activities.
