Attempted robbery in Bognor Regis street

A would-be robber failed in his attempt to rob a Bognor Regis man.

The 57-year-old local man was waiting for a taxi in Durban Road, just before 10.20pm on Saturday, March 3.

The suspect approached the victim and produced a knife demanding his wallet.

However the man ran off and the suspect left empty-handed. He is believed to have got into a small silver hatchback car.

The victim was not assaulted.

Detective constable Pippa Hannard said: “The suspect is described as white, in his mid-twenties, and of slim build, he was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms or jeans, a dark hooded top with the hood down, a dark blue beanie hat and wore as scarf round his neck.

“Anyone who was in the area on Saturday and who saw this man is asked to contact us via 101 quoting serial 1639 of 3/3. You can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.”
