ARSONISTS PUT LIFE AT RISK IN RUSTINGTON HOUSE

A BLAZE in Rustington which left a quarter of a house damaged by smoke is being treated by police as arson with intent to endanger life.

Fire crews from East Preston were called to the fire in Epsom Gardens at around 5.30am on Saturday and the fire was under control within minutes.

The kitchen fire resulted in 10 per cent of the kitchen being damaged by fire and 50 per cent by smoke and heat.

A woman who was asleep upstairs at the time was woken by her fire alarm and called the fire service. When fire crews arrived the woman was outside and uninjured and was treated at the scene. Marvin Smith, station manager for Worthing district.
