A283 closed and casualties seriously injured after head on crash

Emergency services were called to the A283, between Petworth and Northchapel, just south of School House Farm just before 2pm.

The A283 was closed in both directions between Northchapel and Streel’s Lane, Ebernoe.

Sussex Police said some people suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

Due to casualties being attended to, and oil and debris on the road, it was expected that the A283 would be closed for at least three hours until 5pm earliest while the scene was cleared.
