The ceremony was performed by Trish Walker, who has been post mistress in Harting for 20 years with the help of Cecil ‘Laurie Lawrence who was awarded the Legion d’Honneur. Also on hand were manager of Harting Stores and the new sub-post master Peter Cragg, together with his wife Julie.

A face lift of the shop has included new electrics as well as a new shop and Post Office counter where there will be full Post Office services. The decision to close the old Post Office was taken after public consultation under the Post Office’s network transformation programme.
