45 new homes get provisional OK

Plans to build 45 homes, a doctors surgery and business accommodation on a site in East Hoathly were recommended for approval in principle, but not detail, this week by the parish council's planning committee.

Chairman of the committee Mr Mervyn Barnes said about 30 people attended the meeting with a variety of concerns, mainly overlooking, which were noted.

He said the site on land east of South Street and South of the Mews had originally been designated for commercial use but was favoured for mixed development by villagers in preference to building on green fields.

The planning committee's views will be forwarded to Wealden District Council which will make the decision on whether to approve the application.
