1066 anniversary: Battle of Hastings re-enactment
The two mighty Saxon and Norman armies will once again square up at Battle Abbey for the ever-popular event.
The armies will include a group of re-enactors who travelled to Battle on foot and horseback from York, following in the footsteps of Saxon King Harold.

There will also be a chance to have a go at archery and have fun in a kids battle, visit the medieval traders and try a pint of mead.
However if you haven’t managed to get your ticket for the event, then you are in for a disappointment as tickets for both days have sold out.
A gallery of photos taken at the re-enactment will appear on the Observer website, and a selection in Friday’s paper.
