Eastbourne ranks highly in driving test pass rates

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency has revealed the test centres with the highest and lowest pass rates in Sussex.

The data showed that the best performing test centre in Sussex was Chichester, with Eastbourne coming in second place and Lancing coming third.

In Chichester 54.7 per cent of learner drivers passed, while Eastbourne had a pass rate of 51.7 per cent and Lancing’s rate was 47.4 per cent.

The DVLA data recorded all tests taken between April 2019 and March 2020.

All other centres in Sussex had a pass rate below the national average, which currently stands at 45.9 per cent. Crawley had the highest chance of failure, with a pass rate of 41.3 per cent.

However, all Sussex sites scored highly compared to some of the lowest rated UK sites. The centre with the lowest pass rate was Rochdale, with only 30.8 per cent of people passing their test.

The highest pass rate in the UK was at the test centre on the Isle of Mull, where 88.2 per cent of drivers were successful.
