While the global Covid-19 pandemic continues, St Andrew’s Prep understands how important it is for pupils to have regular contact with their teachers; simply seeing and hearing their voices offers familiarity and reassurance.

So teachers have been live-streaming themselves reading stories for pupils from Nursery to Year 2 from their own sitting rooms and gardens.

Headmaster Gareth Jones read the first story and says the response has been overwhelmingly positive. He commented: ‘I have received so many heartening comments and messages from parents thanking us for providing a regular slot in the day for the children to look forward to.

‘The aim of Story Time Live has been to boost the wellbeing and relaxation of our pupils while maintaining the close bond between the children and their teachers during the holidays. The stories were also our way of introducing the children to learning in a new online setting.

‘Story Time is continuing each weekday in the summer term, which got underway on Wednesday 15 April and will be available on the school’s own learning platform.’
