Welbeing, based in Moy Avenue and working on behalf of East Sussex County Council, has launched a ‘Drop to Door’ service so that vulnerable and self-isolating residents can self-install their own Telecare alarm systems.

A Telecare alarm system, according to www.telecarechoice.co.uk, is a monitoring service that offers remote support to elderly, disabled and vulnerable people who live alone in their own homes.

Welbeing said it, and ESCC, reviewed their procedures as it is difficult for a Telecare engineer to enter people’s homes due to government guidelines and because of self-isolating residents.

The company said an engineer now goes over to the person’s home, puts the Telecare kit on the ground outside the door with paperwork, knocks and then stays outside to provide any help and advice the resident might need when installing.

The county council’s project manager for housing solutions Thomas Skilton said, “Welbeing mobilised a number of staff to support the council in contacting some of the most vulnerable adults in the area, to make sure they were safe and receiving the support they required.

“Welbeing’s assistance during this very challenging time has been very much appreciated”.
