Building works began in 2022 but were halted suddenly in October last year. Energy company BP said that work was stopped ‘for reasons beyond our control.’

Planning permission for a 24-hour, four-pump BP station with seven electric car charging points was granted by Horsham District Council back in 2019.

But the new garage and store finally opened this morning and was already busy within an hour. Staff greeted customers with free bags of sweets in a welcome gesture.

The M&S store offers a range of fresh and frozen goods, along with beers and wines, household goods, snacks, ready meals and more. The premises also include a Wild Bean Cafe.
