Bognor Regis' Picturedrome could soon host weddings

Couples could soon be able to get married at the Picturedrome cinema in Bognor Regis.

Operator Adam Cunard is proposing to apply for approval of the premises as a venue for civil marriages and the registration of civil partnerships to take place there.

He said the cinema could be the ideal choice for film fan couples to take their vows with their favourite movies were shown on the big screen afterwards.

“I hope to have made all the arrangements for the licence for the end of the year,” he said.

“There aren’t many places around Bognor which have wedding licences and there are plenty of seats here for all the guests.”

Investment

Mr Cunard’s company has invested £60,000 in the Picturedrome.

“This is the best the cinema has looked that I’m aware of,” he said.

“It’s the first time the cinema has had new seats since it opened in 1919.

“It has always had second-hand ones before. The same goes for the carpet.

“It’s all about making the audiences comfortable and giving them a good experience.

“I hope this will put an end to any comments about this being the ‘local flea pit’.”
