This Morning team give Rustington mum a day to remember

She found out only moments before filming that she was about to appear on ITV’s This Morning in its makeover feature, during which someone is nominated to be treated to a make-up session and new clothes.

Kim Brown, 45, of Laburnum Walk, was nominated for the make-over by her two children, Jade and Lauren Woodard.

She said she had been left “stunned” and “shocked” and had no idea she was to appear on the popular daytime show until just moments before filming, at the Debenhams department store in Worthing.

“I didn’t know anything at all until I walked up the stairs. I thought I was meeting my partner and perhaps he had bought me a pair of shoes. I was so shocked, I was speechless and happy and crying at the same time,” she said.

Kim, who works for the Findon-based company Clinic Line, donated one of her kidneys to her mother, Angela Barden, eight weeks ago. Angela had been placed on the donor list for a kidney in August last year, after suffering from kidney failure, and a month later Kim was confirmed as having a matching blood type.

Kim said her mother’s health had improved immeasurably since the operation.

She added: “I didn’t even think about it. I was going to give a kidney to my mum and that was it.”

Kim’s daughter Jade said she and her sister had nominated their mum because of all the things she had done for them and their family.

Jade, 24, said: “She’s constantly on the go. She never has time for herself and we wanted to show her how proud we are of her and what she’s done. It’s such a special thing to do and this will give her the lift she needs.”

Jade and Lauren nominated their mother two weeks ago, after they noticed This Morning asking people to contact them on Facebook and nominate people who were deserving of a make-over.

Kim added: “It’s amazing. Nothing like this has ever happened to me. I cannot believe my daughters did this. It’s just a wonderful, amazing experience. I’m just plain Kim Brown. That’s it.”
