Royal British Legion - Little Common - August 22

DESPITE the dreadful weather 70 members braved the elements to attend our Wednesday meeting.

We were rewarded with a most entertaining talk by Mrs. Anne Chance on her desire to learn to fly. It all began with a parachute jump for charity and being dressed as superwoman her landing caused quite a stir. She also raised 2,500 for physically handicapped adults a cause close to her heart. But the flying bug had bitten and so began her quest to become a pilot. Learning to fly being a serious business for a 50-year-old, a real challenge. Mrs Chance succeeded to become qualified in three years.

Our speaker described her adventures and minor mishaps with great humour.
