Little Common W.I.

ONE would think that an Annual Meeting should be very business-like, not so at the Little Common W.I. October meeting.

President Pauline Rosner welcomed everyone. Reports of previous activities were given, also some future events to look forward to.

Very attractive handmade cards were on display. Gifts of appreciation were given to certain members, Pauline Mason and Sheila Wren on their achievements in craft work. Also Eurwen Innes our retiring treasurer, and a special thank you to Wendy Milne, having been more than a secretary for many years.

Wendy has always been there for everyone, in her quiet efficient way. Her rest from office is well deserved.

We are fortunate in having East Sussex Chairman Dorothy Pope as a member. Dorothy began the annual meeting by passing on information from headquarters, and giving advice on expected procedures for the meeting.

Eurwen gave a favourable detailed treasurer's report. All is well! Good news in these troubled times.

When reading her report, Wendy reminded us of the many enjoyable times we have shared over the past year. Especially the fiftieth birthday party, a time never to be forgotten!

Pauline thanked everyone for their support in many ways.

Being such an enthusiastic, caring person herself, we are pleased to know that she has accepted the office of President for the coming year.

With twelve committee members also, our thriving Institute has much to offer.

After serious matters were discussed there just had to be a mention of Janice Langley, now widely stated in the press!

With much hilarity, the general opinion was:- W.I certainly isn't just Jerusalem and Jam, but neither is it a sex institution!

On behalf of members Tonia Turner gave the vote of thanks and presented Dorothy with a beautiful plant.

Jam and cream scones were then served, which were made by Margaret Yendell's husband, Jack, while those with recent birthdays also enjoyed a delicious cake.

Another good meeting to remember!
