Lemon and Lime workshops

Lemon & Lime Theatre is back with a brand-new set of theatre-making workshops in Horsham this August.

A spokesman said: “After the success of Lemon & Lime’s Play in a Day workshops, the four theatre practitioners have decided that they are going to hold week-long sessions simply entitled Play in a Week. These extended workshops will give those who sign up the chance to put on a show in just one week, with onstage as well as the backstage elements carried out by all the young people that take part.

“A theatre company will be thrown together under the guidance of the four workshop leaders to create a brand-new showcase of work. Lemon & Lime are looking for a diverse mix of talents including actors, directors and writers for the onstage side of things, but the company would be nothing without those who want to learn more about making sets and props and even operating lights and sound during the show case.

“Those that sign up will be part of Horsham’s youngest show production company.

Whether you opt for the Lemon backstage side or choose to take to the stage on the Lime side you will not be disappointed. The Lime team will spend the week exploring improvising, movement and dance, musical theatre and other written scripts such as Shakespeare and modern theatre work.

“The team will then split into smaller groups and perform a variety of short pieces in a cabaret showcase. Meanwhile, the Lemon team will be busy designing, making, painting and creating. There will be a theme set at the beginning of the week which will act as a spring board for all the company to focus on.

“The scenery and props will be designed in collaboration with the performers over the week and a variety of skills could be covered over the week depending on the show’s needs such as mask making, painting scenery, costume, puppets as well as adding lighting and sound effects to the final show.”
