Arundel pool goes to even greater lengths...

SWIMMERS can linger longer in the Lido at Arundel this year.

For the first time since it opened more than half a century ago, the only outdoor public pool in West Sussex will open over Easter, beginning with a free preview day on Saturday, March 31.

The Lido will remain open for the following two weeks, from April 1-15, and regular weekend openings will then continue from April 21 to May 27, before daily sessions for the summer are launched on June 2, right through to September 3.

Benjamin Centa, the Lido’s general manager, said: “We are very excited that the Lido will be opening for many more days this year and we are hoping that local residents and visitors to the town will take advantage of this.

“We offer a wide range of out-of-public-hours activities, from our Early Birds morning swims and mid-morning Aquarobics to our Late Swallows evening swims, and for 2012, will be introducing new swim schools for both adults and children.”

Although the pool is open for longer this year, anyone buying a season ticket before March 31 can do so at 2011 prices.

Season tickets are available for families, adults, juniors and children and concessionary discounts are also available.

The Lido this year celebrates a decade of being run by the Arundel & Downland Community Leisure Trust, which took over the swimming complex after Arun District Council decided to close it in 1999.
