VIDEO: Thousands line streets of Horsham for Tour of Britain

Thousands of spectators turned out to watch the Tour of Britain pass through Horsham for the first time ever today (Saturday September 13).

Cycling enthusiasts of all ages, families and young children were among those watching the cyclists from the Bishopric, Albion Way, East Street and Brighton Road.

A group of five cyclists flew through Albion Way to the cheers of spectators at about 12pm, with the peloton following several minutes later.

Former BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner Sir Bradley Wiggins was among the riders flying through the Horsham district down towards the south coast.

A samba band kept the crowd in Albion Way entertained while it waited, adding to the electric atmosphere.

Jonathan Chowen, Horsham District Council’s cabinet member for arts, heritage and leisure said the event had been ‘terrific’ for Horsham.
