Fire crews were called to Green Lane, Wivelsfield yesterday, after reports a lorry had lost its load.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews from Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill were called at 1.20pm to the incident, where there had been a spillage.

The unnamed substance was made safe using sand, a fire service spokesman confirmed.

The incident was handed over to police and highways, the spokesman added.
