The Mid Sussex Voluntary Action team held their first Charity Autumn Fair in Burgess Hill on Saturday, October 1.

It took place at The Cherry Tree Centre and organisers hailed it as a great success.

MSVA spokesperson Claire Sumpter said: “We had live music performances, lots of local craft stalls and representatives from local community groups and charities.”

These included Burgess Hill Pantry, Burgess Hill Repair Café, Rotary, Burgess Hill Marching Youth,U3A, Burgess Hill in Bloom, Friends of Woodland Mead, Sussex Community Transport, Scouts, Guides and Brownies.

There was also a hot ‘Pay As You Feel’ lunch and a visit from the ice cream van.

Burgess Hill town mayor Peter Chapman unveiled the Platinum Jubilee Plaque, which was made by the community during the June Jubilee Fest.

Claire said: “It was great to be able to open our doors to our local community, talk about volunteering opportunities, and showcase our newly refurbished community centre where rooms are available to hire at very reasonable rates.”
