A new neighbourhood warden is joining the Billingshurst team.

Julie Green has joined Barry Faust as a Neighbourhood Warden for Billingshurst Parish, Horsham District Council said. Julie brings a wealth of experience to the role as she was previously a Police Community Support Officer with Sussex Police in the Billingshurst area and is also a trained nurse.

Julie said: “I am really looking forward to becoming an integral part of the Billingshurst community, working alongside my colleague Barry Faust and other agencies to help make it a better place to live.”

The Neighbourhood Warden Scheme was set up to provide a reassuring presence in the community. Wardens can deal with issues such as anti-social behaviour, dog fouling and environmental crime. They engage with local schools, run activities for young people and liaise with vulnerable and elderly residents.

A council spokesman added: “Wardens offer advice on crime prevention and refer crime incidents to the police, acting as professional witnesses. They are not, however, a replacement for the police, nor are they an emergency service.”

The Billingshurst Warden scheme is funded by Billingshurst Parish Council and managed by Horsham District Council.

The spokesman said: “If you would like to contact either Julie or Barry, you can do so by emailing [email protected] or calling Julie on 07795 051529 or Barry on 07795 051516.”
