Eight months after being forced to close, the popular Midhurst ice cream cafe, Fitzcane’s is back.

Caroline Cheshire has reopened in the former Rico’s Cafe in North Street. She has spent several weeks refurbishing and modernising the building and on Wednesday loyal customers starting flocking back to the freshly painted white and blue cafe.

When Caroline opened Fitzcane’s in Grange Road just over two years ago in the former Frankie’s Cafe, it was an overnight success. But she ran into trouble with restrictions placed on her by the Cowdray Estate which owned the building, when she put up bunting, fairy lights and a menu board and a picket fence around the courtyard.
